Description: In this short verbal essay, Nakota argues that asking politicians and political candidates running for office what historical, literary, philosophical, and/ or religious text informs the core of who they are is an important question for critically assessing if that candidate is fit to assume a position of power. He argues that the values of these texts, and subsequently, the politician, will manifest themselves into institutions that will have an influence on shaping society in some form.
